Today marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s I Have a Dream speech. This was given to approximately 250,000 people in 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. The message was and remains an incredibly important and potent one. We thought it would be only right to re-visit King’s passionate political statement that has been a source of inspiration in the quest for racial equality in many different countries across the globe. Things have changed but sadly even with a black President of the United States there is still a long way to go, not only in relation to race but also in terms of equality for all people. Hopefully we’ll get there.
This BBC film made to mark the 50th anniversary is also very moving and well worth checking out.
